oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

The vanillin molecule contains atoms of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, the latter are only bounded with carbon and hydrogen, and thus cannot have oxidising properties. A test (A21 or ONU O.2) need not to be performed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Examination of the structural formula establishes beyond reasonable doubt that the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with a combustible material.
