Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
- First aid: general information:
Remove all soiled, soaked clothing and footwear immediately.
- First aid inhalation:
Remove to fresh air.
If necessary, administer oxygen.
- First aid skin:
Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.
- First aid eye:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
- First aid ingestion:
Rinse out mouth and spit out the liquid.
If person remains conscious, immediately give them a lot of water to drink; induce vomiting.
Hold person's head low, to prevent aspiration (inhalation into the windpipe)
Call a doctor if necessary.
Fire-fighting measures
- Extinguishing media:
Foam
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Hazards during fire-fighting:
In the event of fire it can be released
Sulfur oxides (SOx)
carbon monoxide (CO)
- Protective equipment for fire-fighting:
In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Use personal protective equipment.
- Fire-fighting / further advice:
Do not allow any contaminated quenching agent to get into the sewerage system.
Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions:
Limit duration and extent of exposure.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.
Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.
- Environmental precautions:
Must not get into the soil, sewerage systems and surface water. In the event of contamination, notify the responsible authorities.
- Methods for cleaning or taking up:
Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).
Handling and storage
- Advice on safe handling:
The product must be handeled in closed plants.
Before a closed system is opened, purging and washing of the system are applied.
Only trained and authorised personnel is allowed to handle the substance.
Limit duration and extent of exposure.
Use only in a well-ventilated room. Use exhauster devices.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Provide emergency eye-rinse and shower for entire body.
Document substance-handling procedures. Superwise handling by site operator.
- Fire and explosion protection:
Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Avoid overheating.
- Storage requirements:
Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.
Store at room temperature in the original container.
Use PTFE seals.
Containers of stainless steel (316), polyethylene, polypropylene.
- Separate storage (general):
Keep away from oxidizing agents.
Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.
- Further info on storage conditions:
Product must be kept and stored in such a way that it does not present a hazard to people's health and the environment.
- Guidance of save use
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each
Manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Manufacturer/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection
- Avoid sources of ignition, in particular, do not smoke or switch on any electrical equipment;
- Inform the appropriate emergency services, giving as much information about the incident or
accident and substances involved as possible;
- Put on the warning vest and place the self-standing warning signs as appropriate;
- Keep the transport documents readily available for responders on arrival;
- Do not walk into or touch spilled substances and avoid inhalation of fumes, smoke, dusts and
vapours by staying up wind;
- Where appropriate and safe to do so, use the fire extinguishers to put out small/initial fires in
tyres, brakes and engine compartments;
- Fires in load compartments shall not be tackled by members of the vehicle crew;
- Where appropriate and safe to do so, use on-board equipment to prevent leakages into the aquatic
environment or the sewage system and to contain spillages;
- Move away from the vicinity of the accident or emergency, advise other persons to move away
and follow the advice of the emergency services;
- Remove any contaminated clothing and used contaminated protective equipment and dispose of it
safely.
Stability and reactivity
Keep away from alkaline substances.
Keep away from oxidising agents.
Disposal considerations
Dispose of as hazardous waste in compliance with local and national regulations.
