Description of key information

There are four literature sources available for the weight of evidence. The results indicate that thiourea is soluble (1000-10000mg/l) to very soluble in water (> 10000mg/l).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
137 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The data on the water solubility of thiourea of the Ullmann handbook is chosen for robust study summary because of the reference temperature of 20 °C instead of 25 °C.

According to four different literature sources thiourea is soluble (1000-10000 mg/l) to very soluble (> 10000mg/l) in water:

- 137.0 g/l at 20 °C (according to Ullmann, 1995)

- 90 g/l at 20 °C (according to Korte und Greim, 1981)

- 142 g/l at 25 °C (according to Seidell, A. (1941) cited in the HSDB)

- 117.5 g/l at 20 °C and 133.9 g/l at 25°C (according to Yalkowsky, S.H., He, Yan. (2003) cited in the HSDB)
