The water solubility of thiourea at 20°C is 13.7 g/ 100g water. - Executive summary:
The water solubility of thiourea is according the Ullmann`s Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry 13.7 g/ 100g water at 20°C which equates 137 g/l. Thus, thiourea is very soluble.

The water solubility of thiourea is 90 g/l at 20°C. - Executive summary:
The water solubility of thiourea was determined at 20°C according the OECD testguideline A80/6 "Flask method" applying spectralphotometry. Thiourea is soluble. The water solubility is 90 g/l.

Description of key information
There are four literature sources available for the weight of evidence.
The results indicate that thiourea is soluble (1000-10000mg/l) to very soluble in water (> 10000mg/l).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 137 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
The data on the water solubility of thiourea of the Ullmann handbook is chosen for robust study summary because of the reference temperature of 20 °C instead of 25 °C.
According to four different literature sources thiourea is soluble (1000-10000 mg/l) to very soluble (> 10000mg/l) in water:
- 137.0 g/l at 20 °C (according to Ullmann, 1995)
- 90 g/l at 20 °C (according to Korte und Greim, 1981)
