Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACh (Regulation 1907/2006/EC) annex X, testing for long-term toxicity to sediment organisms shall be proposed by the registrant if the results of the chemical safety assessment indicate the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or relevant degradation products on sediment organisms. For substances having log Kow values up to 5 the assessment conducted for the aquatic compartment will also cover the sediment compartment.  As the logKoc and LogPow is far below 3 and no cationic and surface active properties are given a low adsorption potential is indicated. Hence, an adsorption to activated sludge, suspended matter or sediment particles is unlikely and as a consequence a transfer to the sediment compartment is not expected. Furthermore, 4 -(vinyloxy)butan-1 -ol is readily biodegradable without fulfilling the 10-day window criterion.   Finally, using the available aquatic toxicity information for the substance and a PNECsediment derived by equilibrium partitioning , the chemical safety assessment does not reveal a need for further investigation. In the exposure assessment in chapter 9 and 10 of the attached CSR it is clearly stated that the substance does not pose any threat to the environmental compartments under the current conditions of its use. Therefore, a study on long-term toxicity to sediment organisms is not required.
