Description of key information

Chronic toxicity to Daphnia magna from Dicyclopentadiene over 21 days showed NOEC 3.2 mg/L and LOEC 10 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater invertebrates:
3.2 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity data by the Environmental Agency of Japan (1997) has been cited in OECD SIDS but was unavailable for review. The study of chronic toxicity to Daphnia magna from Dicyclopentadiene over 21 days following OECD TG 202 (1984) showed NOEC 3.2 mg/L and LOEC 10 mg/L.

A QSAR estimate has been included to provide additional data for this endpoint. The estimated 21 day ChV is 0.812 mg/L, which is equivalent to a NOEC of 0.547 mg/L. The use of a QSAR model is considered suitable for this endpoint.
