Considering the available studies no adverse effects are expected to occur on aquatic organisms following exposure to charcoal.

Taking into consideration that the charcoal is very slightly soluble in water, we consider that volatiles (other than moisture) presented in the charcoal is unlikely to accumulate in the surface water at concentration high enough to cause adverse effects on aquatic organisms.
