Description of key information

The determination of oxidising properties of charcoal (Probe 1: C-Fix = 73.3%) was performed according to EU-method A.17.
Based on this tests results charcoal is not classified as oxidising.

no

Additional information

The determination of oxidising properties of charcoal was performed according to EU-method A.17.

Therefore, the test items charcoal and a defined combustible substance, here powdered cellulose, was mixed in various ratios. Each mixture was then formed into a pile and the pile was ignited at one end. The maximum burning rate determined was compared with the maximum burning rate of the reference mixture (barium nitrate with powdered cellulose). All burning rates of the test items charcoal were smaller than the maximum burning rate of the mixture of reference item and cellulose.

Based on the tests results charcoal is not classified as oxidising.
