Description of key information

Effects on cumene on the growth of terrestrial plants was investigated in one study with three plant species (Sorghum bicolor, Helianthus annuus, Phaseolus aureus) according to OECD 208 with soil exposure for 21 days. Toxicity was not detected even at the highest concentration of 1000 mg/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw
Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for terrestrial plants:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The data on effects of cumene on terrestrial plants is presented in EU RAR (2001) in Section 3.2.2 (Terrestrial compartment, page 32ff).

Results can be summarised by expressing both toxicity parameters, 21 d EC50 and NOEC as higher than 1000 mg cumene/kg soil.
