Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No information photo-degradation in soil is reported for cumene. Phototransformation in soil is expected to be of no or minor relevance for the fate of cumene in the terrestrial environment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data on photo-degradation of cumen are presented in the EU-RAR (2001) in section 3.1.1.2.1 and no more recent experimental data for this endpoint could be identified.

The test substance is regarded as readily biodegradable. Cumene is expected to biodegrade in soil and may volatilize from the soil surface. Therefore, phototransformation in soil is expected to be of no or minor relevance for the fate of cumene in the terrestrial environment and the performance of an experimental study on photodegradation in soil is unjustified.
