Description of key information

The first-order mineralization rate constant at the test concentration of 2.5 mg/L was calculated to be 0.02 d-1 (DT50 35 d).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Data on the biodegradation of cumene in water/sediment is presented in the EU-RAR (2001) in section 3.1.1.2.2. It is reported that cumene showed mineralisation of 47% after 45 d by Williams et al. (1993). There might be an error in the RAR report because the mineralisation in that study was based on a time of 10 d only.
