In conclusion, the FOCUS surface water assessment for DPX-Q8U80 and its metabolites indicates that the use of DPX-Q8U80 is not likely to pose a risk to surface water resources if the product is used in Europe according to the label instructions.
Executive summary:

Predicted environmental concentrations in surface water (PECsw) and sediment (PECsed) of DPX-Q8U80 and its soil and aquatic metabolites IN-QEK31, IN-REG72, IN-F4106, IN-VM862 and IN-A5760 were determined in order to support authorisation in Europe.

The active substance DPX-Q8U80 is a nematicide that can be applied to cucurbits (cucumber and courgette) pre-transplant to the field and to carrots pre-emergence. Based on the proposed GAP, the following application regimes were identified as representative for DPX-Q8U80 and considered in the modelling:

Cucurbits (cucumber, courgette) at 1 × 750 g a.s./ha, 30 days preemergence (treatment in greenhouse pre-transplant, but field assessment considered as worst case)

Carrots at 1 × 500 g a.s./ha, 40 days pre-emergence

Predicted environmental concentrations in surface water and sediment (PECsw and PECsed) of DPX-Q8U80 and its soil and aquatic metabolites IN-QEK31, IN-REG72, IN-F4106, IN-VM862 and IN-A5760 were determined following recommendations of the FOCUS surface water workgroup in a stepwise approach. The FOCUSsw crops ‘Vegetables, fruiting’ and ‘vegetables, root’ were selected for modelling, respectively.

The assessment started with the assumption of worst-case loadings at Steps 1 and 2 and was subsequently refined at Step 3. The following FOCUS surface water tools were used in simulations: Steps 1-2 in FOCUS 3.2, FOCUS SWASH 5.3, FOCUS MACRO 5.5.4, FOCUS PRZM 4.3.1 and FOCUS TOXSWA 5.5.3.

PECsw and PECsed for DPX-Q8U80 and its soil and aquatic metabolites IN-QEK31, IN-REG72, IN-F4106, IN-VM862 and IN-A5760 were calculated according to FOCUS guidelines (2001 and 2015) for application to cucurbits (cucumbers, courgettes) and carrots in Europe.

Results for Cucurbits crop (IN-QEK 31):
Max. PECsw (µg/L) was 115.255 (Step 1) & 44.644 (step2)
Max. PECsed (µg/kg) was 80.600 (step 1) & 31.222 (step2)

Results for Carrot crop (IN-QEK 31):
Max. PECsw (µg/L) was 76.837 (step 1) & 29.763 (step2)

Max. PECsed (µg/kg) was 53.733 (step 1) & 20.815 (step2)

In conclusion, the FOCUS surface water assessment for DPX-Q8U80 and its metabolites indicates that the use of DPX-Q8U80 is not likely to pose a risk to surface water resources if the product is used in Europe according to the label instructions.
