In a GLP study conducted according to OECD 115 and EU Method A.5, the OECD harmonized ring method was used for the determination of the surface tension calcium (S)-lactate. The surface tension of a test solution at a concentration of 1 g/L was 72.6 mN/m at 20.0 °C. According to this, the test substance is considered not to be surface active (< 60 mN/m).
Reference
A constant surface tension was reached after about 380 sec. The surface tension was 72.7 mN/m at 20 °C using the ring method representing the mean of five separate measurements. The measured surface tension was multiplied by the calibration factor (0.9994), resulting in a corrected surface tension of 72.6 mN/m.
