Description of key information

Benzene, C10-13-alkyl dervis., is a readily biodegradable substance (see section 5.2.1). No hazard was identified for aquatic organisms (acute and long-term studies available in fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae). Therefore, the substance is assessed as “aquatic toxicity unlikely to occur”. Thus, the hazard and exposure assessment with regard to sediment are waived.

Additional information

Sediment toxicity is not a required endpoint for readily biodegradable substances. No data on sediment organisms are available. Equilibrium partitioning were used to determine the PNECsediment.
