On the basis of the available data, 1,2-dchloropropane, when released into the environment, will mainly distribute into the air, where its potential contribution to Global Warning, POCP, or ODP, is evaluated as negligible. In the aquatic environment,the substance is not subjected to any significant degradation (abiotic and biotic), however, the substance is not expected to bioaccumulate.Based on the low value of Koc (Log Koc = 1.67; Meylan et al., 1992), 1,2-dichloropropane is not expected to adsorb significantly to organic matter in soil, sediment, or suspended solids in wastewater or surface waters. The low Koc value suggests that 1,2-dichloropropane is expected to have high mobility in soil. The Henry’s Law constant of 286 Pa m3 mol-1 indicates that1,2-dichloropropaneis expected to volatilize from water.
