Description of key information

Diethylenetriamine exhibits three dissociation constants, which were determined to be pKa1 = 4.889, pKa2 = 9.386, pKa3 = 10.101 at 25 °C in 3M KNO3 electrolyte.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The measured pKa values indicate that diethylenetriamine will exist in a protonated state at the ~pH 7 conditions occurring in the environment and/or in biological media. Therefore, the partitioning/distribution of the substance may not be accurately derived on the basis of log Kow alone.
