Description of key information
The 96-hour LC50 value of 430 mg/L for diethylene triamine is taken from a valid exposure study with guppies (Poecilia reticulata).

Twelve acute freshwater fish studies were listed for this endpoint. Full study reports were not available for all of these studies, so in these cases, a Klimisch score of 4 was assigned based on the unavailability of the original reference. Four studies were assigned Klimisch scores of 3 based on study design flaws such as inappropriate test temperature, inappropriate route of administration of the test chemical, and failure to neutralize test solutions following the addition of the test material. Three studies were assigned Klimisch scores of 2. One of these studies was conducted with medaka (Oryzias latipes) and reported a 48-hour LC50 of 1,000 mg/L diethylene triamine. Another study was conducted with the golden orfe and reported a 96 -hour LC50 >500 mg/L diethylene triamine. The third study was conducted with guppies (Poecilia reticulata) and reported a 96-hour LC50 of 430 mg/L diethylene triamine. The 96-hour LC50 value of 430 mg/L for guppies was selected as the key parameter for this endpoint since the test was conducted for 96 hours (verses 48 hours) and resulted in the lower LC50 value.
