The reaction mass of 2 -piperazin-1 -ylethanol, piperazine-1,4 -diethanol and piperazine (50, 25 and 25%)

is assessed to be not readily biodegradable based on a weight-of-evidence approach.

Since the reaction mass or the majority of its components are neither considered as readily nor as inherently biodegradable, no significant degradation of the reaction mass is expected. However, there is some evidence that piperazine may be considered as readily biodegradable. Based on the available screening data significant biodegradation cannot be expected for the reaction mass in the environment. This finding is supported by the chemical structures of 2 -piperazin-1 -ylethanol and piperazin-1,4 -diethanol which indicate a low potential for biodegradation. Therefore, no further tests on biodegradation are performed because it is not expected that further testing will significantly change this assessment.
