Description of key information

Waiving of Study
Chlorine dissipates rapidly in contact with soil with a DT50 of < 1 minutes. Therefore, long-term effects are not expected and consequently, long-term toxicity tests to sediment organisms are not necessary.
In addition, in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex X, long-term toxicity tests to sediment organisms (required in section 9.5.1) do not need to be conducted as the results of the chemical safety assessment do not indicate the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or relevant degradation products on sediment organisms.
