Additional information

A recent and well documented study was selected from the large body of available information (see literature search), Meng (2008). The reported density at 0 °C was in good agreement with that reported by Gillo (1936) at the same temperature, and with Merck (2001) at 20 °C.

The study by Meng is considered to be of suitable accuracy for the purposes of classification and labelling and risk assessment, with no nearby regulatory cut-offs. The study was very well documented and addressed all relevant experimental parameters. The study addressed the errors in detail and compared the results with other workers. As a result, testing does not appear scientifically necessary based on the use of existing data and, given the above points, the criteria in Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.1.1 are considered to be met.
