study data are
available for each relevant physicochemical endpoint for vacuum gas
oils, hydrocracked gas oils and distillate fuels. All substances in the
category are liquids (CONCAWE, 2010a) at ambient temperature (20°C) and
pressure (101.3 kPa). There is no guideline method available for this
endpoint and data presented are based on visual observation, supported
by data on pour point and viscosity. The pour point for chemicals in
this category ranges from -40 to 6°C (CONCAWE,
boiling point for vacuum gas oils, hydrocracked gas oils and distillate
fuels ranges from 141 to 462°C (CONCAWE, 2010a) and the density ranges
from 0.8 to 0.91 g/cm3at 15°C (CONCAWE, 2010a). The vapour
pressure is ~0.4 kPa at 40°C (CONCAWE, 1996).
points for vacuum gas oils, hydrocracked gas oils and distillate fuels
are generally >56°C and the self ignition temperature is typically
≥225°C (CONCAWE, 2010a). Vacuum gas oils, hydrocracked gas oils, and
distillate fuels oilshaving
flash points between ≥ 55 °C and ≤ 75 °C meet the CLP Regulation (EC No.
1272/2008) criteria as Category 3 Flammable Liquids (H226).Vacuum
gas oils, hydrocracked gas oils, and distillate fuels oils do not met
classification criteria for explosiveness, or oxidising properties under
the EU CLP Regulation (EC)1272/2008.. The kinematic viscosity of
substances in this category is ≥1.5 mm2/s at 40°C
(CONCAWE, 2010a). Substances having a kinematic viscosity of ≤20.5
mm2/s at 40°C would meet classification criteria as
aspiration hazard (H304) under CLP.
on information available on the properties of the substances that
comprise the vacuum gas oils, hydrocracked gas oils and distillate fuels
category of chemicals, specific data are not presented for the following
endpoints: partition co-efficient, water solubility, granulometry,
surface tension, flammability, explosiveness, oxidising properties,
stability in organic solvents, and dissociation constant. Appropriate
waiving statements are provided to indicate why data for these REACH
endpoints are not applicable. The physico-chemical data presented are
considered representative for the substances included in the category
vacuum gas oils, hydrocracked gas oils and distillate fuels.
