In the temperature/time diagram was no significant exothermic reaction. In the range of 260 to 275 °C was as light endothermic eff e.tc At the end of the test the basket was empty. With respect to appendix 6, chapter 5.2.2 of UN-MTC there were no additional tests necessary.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Solvent Yellow 179 is not liable to self-heating according to UN-N.4.
Executive summary:

The test was performed as stipulated in UN-MTC procedure N.4. As a screening test the Grewer oven test (VDI guideline 2263, part 1, 1990) was made. The substance under test was placed in a wire basket with 8 ml volume in a tube shaped oven at room temperature. The oven was heated up with a rate of 0.5 K/min up to 450 °C. The temperature of the center of the sample and the temperature of an inert reference sample, which was placed in another tube of the same oven, were recorded. Both samples were vented with air with a rate of 20 L/h. Solvent green 28 is not liable to self-heating according to UN-N.4.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2014
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
The sample was tested in the delivered form. Another pre-treatment, especially drying or grinding did not take place.
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test over 100 mm length
Burning time:
> 45 s
Remarks on result:
other:
Remarks:
not readily combustible solid

Results:

- Using an ignition source (flame or hot platinum wire) at room temperature, the sample melted

- No ignition was observed

- Since the substance showed no spontaneous fire propagation at room temperature, the determination of the burning rate was not required

- The burning behavior of the sample at room temperature is to be characterized with the burner number BZ 1 (no burning)

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Solvent green 28 is a non-flammable solid.
Executive summary:

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Solvent green 28 is a non-flammable solid.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Solvent green 28 is a non-flammable solid according to EU method A.10 and did not deliver indications of pyrophoric properties during the realization of other tests. Therefore the determination according to UN-MTC Procedure N.2 is not necessary. The chemical structure of the substance contains no metals or metalloids. Testing according to UN-MTC*) procedure N.5 is not necessary with reference to Appendix 6, chapter 5.3.. Solvent green 28 is not liable to self-heating according to UN-N.4.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
