Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Boiling point on the dried substance could not be measured. However, at 75% in aqueous solution, boiling point was measured at 108.5°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
108.5 °C

Additional information

The boiling point of Tolcide PS75 (75% THPS in aqueous solution) was tested for boiling point according to the OECD 103 guideline and under GLP.

The capillary method was used and the measures were determined in triplicate. Some evolution of dissolved gas was noted prior to boiling point.

The mean observed boiling point was calculated at 109.2°C. The corrected boiling point defined at 108.5°C (381.5K) at atmospheric pressure is used for Classification&Labelling and Chemical safety assessment purposes.

The boiling point was planned to be measured by DSC method on the dried active substance (100% THPS). The DSC method was also used along for the preliminary test of storage stability. In that last study, exothermic reactions were observed at 150°C showing evidence of decomposition of the dried substance happened to decompose through before melting. Consequently, the boiling point of the dried substance cannot be measured.
