Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point of the dried solid THPS (100%) was determined between 54.2 and 81.5°C at ambient pressure and the freezing point of the THPS aqueous solution 75% gives a freezing temperature < -20 °C or 253K at ambient pressure.
The freezing point of commercial THPS 75% aqueous solution at ambient pressure is choosen for chemical safety assessment purposes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-20 °C

Additional information

The melting point of the dried solid THPS (100%) was determined according to OECD 102 guideline under GLP using a capillary tube method.

The study report is well documented and report a melting range of THPS dried (100%) between 54.2 and 81.5°C at ambient pressure.

The freezing temperature of THPS aqueous solution (75%) was determined using the method for determination of crystallizing point (method EC A1) under GLP. The dry ice/ acetone bath was maintained until the temperature has reached approximately -20°C or until the test material solidified.

No solidification appeared until this temperature that gives a freezing temperature for THPS 75% < -20 °C or 253 K at ambient pressure.

The freezing point of THPS 75% aqueous solution at ambient pressure is choosen for chemical safety assessment purposes.
