Description of key information

No acute toxicity test data were available for exposure of tripropylene glycol butyl ether highers (TPnB-H) to fish. Therefore, a read across approach was used for short-term toxicity to fish based on test results for tripropylene glycol n-butyl ether and SYNALOX* 100-50B ( dipropyleneglycol n-butylether initiated alkoxylate, Mw = 1375).

Additional information

The 96 hr LC50 value for Poecillia reticulata exposed to TPnB was 564 mg/L, while the 96 hr LC50 value for zebrafish in a study with SYNALOX*100 -50B was report as >104 mg/L. The molecular weights for these two read across substances ranges from 248 (TPnB) to 1375 for SYNALOX*100 -50B. The chemical structure and molecular weight of TPnB highers is closer to TPnB, therefore the TPnB toxicity endpoint was considered to be more accurate for read across.
