Description of key information

The phototransformation in air was estimated by calculation with AOPWIN v1.92 tool using the CAS number 18172-67-3 as input.

Degradation rate constant with OH radicals:
0 cm³ molecule-1 d-1

Additional information

The phototransformation rate is 5.65E-11 cm3/molecule/sec with OH radicals and 1.2E-17 cm3/molecule/sec with ozone. The calculated global half-life is 0.034 day (2.066 hours). This value is largely below the trigger limit of 2 days as defined in the Convention of Stockholm as POP criterion.

Therefore, (-)-beta pinene is not classified as persistent in the troposphere and has no potential for Long Distance Transport through the air.
