Additional information

Alpha pinene, (-)-beta pinene and delta 3 carene are structurally similar compounds. All of them are included in the same chemical-structure category of bicyclic terpenes.

Following extensive review of existing data on these substances, a great extent of similar patterns was demonstrated for physico-chemical properties, environmental fate, ecotoxicological and toxicological properties. This is the case for biodegradation.

It has been confirmed by different biodegradation studies with these substances. They were all found to be readily biodegradable according to the criteria of the OECD 301 guideline.

(-)-Beta pinene, is readily biodegradable according to the criteria of the OECD 301 guideline.

No further study has been conducted.
