Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Resorcinol has no functional groups susceptible to hydrolysis under environmentally relevant pH and temperature conditions (Harris, 1990); hydrolysis is not expected to occur.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Resorcinol has no functional groups susceptible to hydrolysis under environmentally relevant pH and temperature conditions (Harris, 1990); hydrolysis is not expected to occur.

HYDROWIN v 1.67 cannot estimate hydrolysis rate constants for phenols.  Therefore modelled results using HYDROWIN v 1.67 have not been provided (US EPA, 2006, EPISUITE v3.12).

Resorcinol has been shown to be readily biodegradable and hence in accordance with REACH Annex VIII section 9.2.2.1 a hydrolysis study need not be performed.
