First-aid measures

Inhalation:

Remove affected person from source of contamination. Move affected person to fresh air at once. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Ingestion:

DO NOT induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. Give plenty of water to drink.

Skin contact:

Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Eye contact:

Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse.

Fire-fighting measures

Solvent vapours may form explosive mixtures with air. Thermal decomposition or combustion products may include toxic gases or vapours and hazardous combustion products.

Extinguish fires with water spray, fog or mist, foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), or dry chemicals: sand etc. Do not use a water jet as an extinguisher as this will spread the fire. Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the fire is out. Control run-off water by containing and keeping it out of sewers and watercourses.

Accidental release measures

Wear suitable protective equipment, including gloves, goggles/face shield, respirator, boots, clothing or apron, as appropriate. Avoid inhalation of vapours and contact with skin and eyes. Do not discharge into drains or watercourses or onto the ground. Avoid contaminating public drains or water supply.

Methods for cleaning up:

Eliminate all sources of ignition. No smoking, sparks, flames or other sources of ignition near spillage. Provide adequate ventilation. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers.

Handling and storage

Avoid spilling. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid inhalation of vapours. Use approved respirator if air contamination is above an acceptable level. Store in a tightly-closed, original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
