Description of key information

According to Column 2 of Annex IX of REACH (Section 9.1. Aquatic toxicity), long-term toxicity testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms. The choice of the appropriate test(s) depends on the results of the chemical safety assessment.  A long-term fish test of strontium neodecanoate is not considered to be required for various reasons as outlined in the corresponding derogation statement. Conducting any further vertebrate study should be avoided and new tests in animals are not considered justified for animal welfare reasons. Therefore, it is not justified to conduct any further long-term fish toxicity study with strontium neodecanoate.
