Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
2.4 dimensionless

Additional information

The log Kow of hexahydro-4 methylphthalic anhidride (4-MHHPA), determined experimentally according to the OECD 117 (HPLC method) is 2.09

The log Kow (log D) of 1,2-Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, 4-methyl- (4-MHHPAc), estimated at pH= 8 (environment, river) is -3.96.

All these values lie below the trigger of 3.0 and both 4-MHHPA and 4-MHHPAc are therefore expected not to exhibit significant bioconcentration or bioaccumulation tendencies.

This is supported by experimental data on the acid degradation product which indicates a low BCF of up to 2.4.
