Conclusion on classification
According to 67/548 EC and the results mentioned hereafter, 1,3-diphenylguanidine is classified as R51/53.
* Short term Toxicity to Fish:LC50-96h = 4.2 mg/l
Based on the results of this study, 1,3-diphenylguanidine would be classified as toxic to fish in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC.
* Short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:EC50-48h = 17 mg/L .
Based on the results of this study, 1,3-diphenylguanidine is classified as toxic for aquatic invertebrates in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC.
* Toxicity to aquatic algae:EC50-72h= 1.4 – 1.7 mg/L
According to EU regulation (Dir 67/548/EEC), in the tested conditions 1,3-diphenylguanidine is considered as toxic for algae based on growth rate.
* Toxicity to aquatic micro-organisms:EC50-3h=147 mg/L
Based on the results of this study, 1,3-diphenylguanidine shows low toxicity to activated sludge.
* 1 ,3-diphenylguanidine is not readily biodegradable
According to GHS-UN, these results are conclusive and so show that 1,3-diphenylguanidine is classified in the acute category II (Toxic to aquatic life) and chronic category II (Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects). According to CLP, 1,3 -diphenylguanidine is chronic II.
