A number of reported data were available on 1,3-diphenylguanidine from
1960 to 1988. However, data assessment was difficult because the studies
were poorly documented. In some of those studies, DPG was noted as
rapidly degraded or readily biodegradable but either no sound
biodegradation follow-up was performed or no sound detail about the
inoculum pre-treatment was given. That is the reason why a full OECD
301D study was commissioned in 2015. This study showed that DPG is
readily biodegradable and that no persistent metabolite can be expected.
