Description of key information

The flammability of DPG (1,3-diphenylguanidine) was performed in a study performed in accordance with EC regulation 440/2008 EC A 10 method. Twice prelimary tests are performed, no main test is made. DPG is considered as not highly flammable under our experimental conditions: since the product turns brown but no propagation occurred.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Two assay of flammability are made by Tieche (DEFITRACE) in 2010 according to EC A10, twice with the same conclusion: at the start of the test, the test item was a white powder with agglomerates. The test item melted and turned into a beige to clear brown liquid and blackened. Neither ignition, nor propagation was observed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The flammability of DPG was performed in accordance with EC regulation 440/2008 EC A 10 method. Twice preliminary tests are made, but no main test. DPG is considered as not highly flammable under our experimentals conditions.

As a consequence, 1,3 -diphenylguanidine will not be classified as flammable
