Description of key information

FAT 40825/A could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The determination of the flammability of the test item was performed in accordance with the EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A. 10 "Flammability (solids)", EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992.

In contact with the ignition source, FAT 40825/A started glowing while the flame became orange. The surface slightly swelled up. The test item sustained glowing for about 2 minutes but glowing did not expand. FAT 40825/A could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). Therefore, no main test was performed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results from the test for flammability of solids, in which the substance did not maintain a flame, and experience in handling and use, showing that the substance is neither emitting flammable gases (see test on water solubility) nor is pyrophoric, the substance is not classifiable for flammability according to CLP (Regulation EC No 1272/2008) or DSD (Directive 67/548/EEC).
