Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The comparison of all acute aquatic toxicity values available for THPC and its read-across substance THPS demonstrate, that the algae is the far more sensitive aquatic species.

Additionally has to be considered that the degradation metabolite THPO by several orders of magnitude is less toxic.

The read-across with THPS is considered to be allowed for THPC because the toxicity is triggered by the organic phosphonium cation which is the same for both substances. The influence of the anions (chloride and sulfate) regarding the toxicological behaviour is considered not to be relevant.

Physico chemical parameter (high water solubility, negative logPow) which influence the toxicological and environmental behavior are comparable in case of THPC and THPS.
