Description of key information

No experimental results are available for the abiotic degradation of montan waxes. As the substances are very poorly soluble in water (max. 43 mg/L, for Montan waxes, type WM31) studies on hydrolysis as a function of pH (OECD 111) could not be expected to yield any reasonable information and were therefore not conducted (waiving according to Annex XI of REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006). Out of the same reasons (insolubility in water), hydrolysis will be no relevant degradation pathway.
