Trimethylolpropane is hydrolytically stable: The hydrolytic half-life at pH 4.0, 7.0, and 9.0 at 25°C was determined to be greater than 1 year in the dark. Reference: MITI, <= 1994

For the hydrolytical photodegradation a DT50 of 306 days was determined experimentally. Reference: MITI, <= 1994

The half life of trimethylolpropane when reacting with OH-radicals in air was calculated to be approx. 28 hours (equivalent to 1.2 days). Reference: Lanxess, 2009
