Description of key information

The bioconcentration potential of trimethylolpropane in fish was tested in

a 6-week flow-through-test according to OECD 305C. The resulting log BCF of lower than 2, BCF < 17 indicates that the potential for bioconcentration in fish is low.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Key study:

The bioconcentration potential of trimethylolpropane in fish was tested on Cyprinus carpio in a 6-week flow-through-test according to OECD 305C. The resulting log BCF of lower than 2, BCF < 17 indicates that the potential for bioconcentration in fish is low.

Further studies:

A BCF of 1.48 was calculated on the base of calculated log kow of 2.51. The BCF of -0.84 was calculated on the base of experimental log kow of -1.48.

Reference: Walton & Davis, 1980

The BCF was estimated from the calculated log kow of 0.19 by using the program BCFWIN, v.2.15.
