Conclusion on classification

DMSO is of low toxicity for all aquatic species tested (algae, invertebrates and fish) with toxicity values far above 100 mg/L. Moreover DMSO is not considered as a bioaccumulative substance with a log Kow below 4 and a bioconcentration factor for fish also below 4.

On this basis DMSO environmental classification is not required neither according to the dangerous substance directive, nor according to the globaly harmonized system.
