Calibration of DSC

ASTM Method No E 967 -03

ASTM Method No E 968 -02

Calibration date 2008 -10 -29

Sample Size

Per replicate approx. 8 mg of the test item was weighed out.

Preliminary Testing

The thermal stability measured with DSC in the closed aluminium crucible showed an endothermic effect (boiling) in the temperature range 350 - 430 °C at 10°C/min. No exothermal decomposition showed in the measurement range.

Executive summary:

Boiling point results

Analysis No  Onset [°C] measures  P measurement [kPa]  Temperature range [°C]
 1  346  98.76  345 - 395
 2  346  98.70  345 - 395
 3  346  98.56  345 - 395
 Mean (°C)  346

No correction due to atmospheric pressure deviations from 101,3 kPa has been used in the boiling point calculation. Normal pressure deviations due to weather changes - in the place of the testing laboratory - were considered to give boiling point changes within the reading error of the test system.

Description of key information

The boiling point of 1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic acid, mixed decyl and octyl triesters is 346 °C at atmospheric pressure, measured by differential scanning calorimetry.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
