Description of key information

The boiling point of 3-Chloro-1,2- propane diol could not be determined (applying the Siwoloboff method) due to decomposition of the test item at approx. 150 °C following the OECD 103 and EU A.2 test methods (Paulus, 2010). The decomposition temperature of 3-chloro-1,2 propane diol was concluded to be 150 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

At approx. 150 °C the test item decomposed reflected by a colour change from colourless to green yellow. At 200 °C the colour of the test item was nearly black.
