3-Chloro-1,2-propanediol was concluded to be "readily biodegradable" from the carbon dioxide evolution test following OECD Test Guideline 301B and EC test method C.4 (Muckle, 2010).

Supporting data indicate that 3-chloro-1,2 propane diol is rapidly biodegradable by baker's yeat (S. cerevisiae) (Bel-Rhlid et al., 2004).

A Koc of 1 was calculated for 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol (EpiSuite software as integrated in the OECD QSAR Application Toolbox, v 1.1.02).
