Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

All the main components in the Reaction mass of 1,3-Propanediol, 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-[(methoxymethoxy)methyl]- and 1,3-dioxane-5,5-dimethanol are stable to hydrolysis i.e. no sign of hydrolysis under the conditions investigated.

The Reaction mass of 1,3-Propanediol, 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-[(methoxymethoxy)methyl]- and 1,3-dioxane-5,5-dimethanol and all of its components can not be classified as readily biodegradable.

The logKow values of all of the major componments of Reaction mass of 1,3-Propanediol, 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-[(methoxymethoxy)methyl]- and 1,3-dioxane-5,5-dimethanol are reported to be <3 (see Section 4.7, partition coefficient). According to Column 2 of Annex IX of the REACH regulation, no bioaccumulation study is required if the logKow is below the trigger of 3 as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for bioaccumulation.

Based on physicochemical properties (i.e. Log Pow = -0.9) the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption. According to Column 2 of Annex VIII of the REACH regulation, no study is required if the logPow is below the trigger of 3 as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption.
