TS-ED 532 is highly insoluble in water. The solubility is approximately 70 ug/L. This indicates that the rate of hydrolysis is limited by the low water solubility. Therefore, it can be assumed that the rate of hydrolysis in the environment will be very slow. The possible hydrolysis products are glycerol, acetic acid and the constituent acids 12 -acetoxystearic acid and 12 hydroxystearic acid, none of which are suspected to have environmental effects. TS-ED 532 is a strongly adsorbing and binding substance, the adsorption coefficient (Koc) of TS-ED 532 was estimated to 236178, corrsponding to log Koc=5.4. TS-ED 532 is readily biodegradable and not expected to persist in the environment. The bioaccumulation potential of TS-ED 532 was investigated in zebra fish larvae (Danio rerio). Based on the mean BCFss results, a conservative estimate of BCF was 981 ± 330, resulting in a log BCF of 2.99 ± 0.14. These data could indicate a potential for bioaccumulation of TS-ED 532 in the environment.

Overall, TS-ED 532 has a high partition coefficient and a high BCFss which is characteristic of a bioaccumulative substance.

However, TS-ED 532 is a glyceride and therefore inherently metabolizable and bioaccumulation is not expected. Based on the results from the biodegradation study, TS-ED 532 is readily biodegradable and not expected to persist in the environment.
