Description of key information

The adsorption coefficient (Koc) of '1,2-dihydro-2,4-trimethylquinoline, oligomers' was investigated by using HPLC method according to OECD guideline 121 at environmentally relevant pH 6.3 and 25°C. The results are log Koc = 3.57 (15.2 area % of the test item), and log Koc > 4.09 (84.8 area % of the test item) (Currenta 2010).

Additional information

The test item '1,2-dihydro-2,4-trimethylquinoline, oligomers' is a complex reaction mass with partially undefined composition (UVCB). The chromatogram of the test item shows 20 resolved peaks corresponding to 20 fractions (main and minor components). The reference substances used in this experiment had a range of log Koc up to 4.09.

As a worst-case assumption, the lowest log Koc of 3.57 is used for further exposure assessment of PNEC in sediment and soil using EPM method. According to the classification scheme of Swann et al. (1983) the experimentally determined log Koc (mostly above 4.09) indicates a high sorption potential to soil and sediment and suggests a slow migration potential to ground water.
