Description of key information

Since, the substance is not classified as toxic to mammals and secondary poisoning is unlikely to occur (low bioaccumulation potential) further testing on birds is deemed not to be necessary.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data evaluating the toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexylesters (CAS No. 68334-05-4) to birds are available. The substance is readily biodegradable with a low potential for bioaccumulation in biota (see IUCLID section 5.3) and therefore, according to the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7c, secondary poisoning is unlikely to occur (ECHA, 2012). Moreover, as the substance is not toxic to mammals (not classified for toxicity) no further toxicity testing on birds is deemed to be necessary.
