RESULTS

Accuracy checking

The accuracy of the instrument was checked by determining the melting point of a certified sample of benzoic acid (certified melting point: 122.1 °C ± 0.2 °C). The results were:

First determination: 122.3 °C

Second determination: 122.4 °C

Boiling Point determination

First determination: observed boiling point: 232.3 °C

Second determination: observed boiling point: 232.1 °C

Correction to normalized pressure

The atmospheric pressure at the time of the experiment was 96.12 kPa (meteo Suisse). A correction of the temperature to normalised pressure (101.325 kPa) was made. The determination of this correction factor was made using the Sideney Young equation, as recommended in OECD guideline 1 03.

Tn = T + (fT.▲p)

Where: ▲p = 101.325 kPa - p

p = pressure in kPa; the pressure was obtained from the Swiss meteorological service for the time of the experiment;

fT = rate of change of boiling temperature with pressure in K/kPa, here a value of 0.41 K/kPa, as published in the

OECD guideleine 103, was used.

T = temperature in K

Tn = normal boiling point.

With this correlation made, it can be concluded that the standard boiling point of Cyclamen Aldehyde Extra is: 507 K (234 °C)

Conclusions:
From this study it can be concluded that the standard boiling point of Cyclamen Aldehyde Extra is 507 K (234 °C).
Executive summary:
