Description of key information

The substance is not flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Based on the structure, functional groups and experience in safe handling and use of the substance, flammability on contact with water and pyrphoric properties are not considered a concern. Furthermore, flammability solids is not relevant for this liquid at normal operating temperatures. Therefore classification and labelling for these end points is not justified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, Annex I, section 2.6, "Flammable liquid means a liquid having a flash point of not more than 60 °C". The flash point (IUCLID section 4.11 , CSR section 1.3), 79.5 °C, is higher than this value and so the substance should not be classified as a flammable liquid. However, the substance has a flash point of ≤ 93 °C. Therefore, if it is used in an aerosol at >1% the aerosol should be considered for classification in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, Annex I, section 2.3, Figure 2.3.1. The substance is a liquid under standard conditions (IUCLID section 4.1, CSR section 1.3) with a freezing point of < -50 °C (see IUCLID section 4.2, CSR section 1.3), so the substance should not be classified as a flammable solid, and with a low vapour pressure of 0.3 Pa at 20 °C (see IUCLID section 4.6, CSR section 1.3), so the substance should not be classified as a flammable gas.
