Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

CYCLAMEN ALDEHYDE has been determined to be READILY Biodegradable (fulfilling the 10-day window criterion) in a biodegradation screening study.

Additional information

Cyclamen Aldehyde Extra has been shown to be readily biodegradable. It achieved > 60% biodegradation after 28 days and met the 10-day window criterion in a ready biodegradability screening study.

Further biotic simulation degradation testing has not been conducted. In accordance with REACH Annex IX column 2, simulation tests in surface water, sediment and soil are not considered necessary since Cyclamen aldehyde is readily biodegradable. In these circumstances, simulation tests will provide little additional information since rapid mineralisation in the environment is already assumed. In addition, the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I gives safe risk characterisation ratios at the regional scale and therefore half-life data from simulation tests is not required to further refine the environmental risk assessment.

Identification and/or the assessment of degradation products is not required as Cyclamen Aldehyde Extra is readily biodegradable. In these circumstances, it may be considered that any degradation products formed during such degradation would themselves be sufficiently rapidly degraded as not to require further assessment.
