GHS
General Information
- Implementation:
- EU
- Type of classification:
- harmonised classification
- Remarks:
Existing harmonised classification:
This entry is inserted by Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP), Annex VI Table 3.1. No update in ATP until now.
Please note that classification for Acute Tox. 4 shall be considered as a minimum classification (criteria according to Directive 67/548/EEC does not correspond directly to a hazard class and category under CLP Regulation, and no additional information is available in the REACh registration dossier). Please note also that the harmonised classification indicates Skin Corr.1A H314 but not Eye Dam.1 H318. A skin corrosive substance is considered to also cause serious eye damage which is indicated in the hazard statement for skin corrosion (H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage). Thus, in this case both classifications (Skin Corr. 1 H314 and Eye Dam. 1 H318) are required, and therefore Eye Dam.1 H318 is added although not reported in the harmonised classification. But the hazard statement H318 ‘Causes serious eye damage’ is not indicated on the label because of redundancy (CLP Article 27). Due to the corrosive properties of trifluoroacetic acid, a classification as 'corrosive to the respiratory tract' (EUH071) should also be applied.
